Look, if you’re still not playing Dungeons & Dragons, then I don’t know how to help you. It’s one of the most amusing ways to hang out with friends, tell a story together, and flex your muscles/magicks/hideous laughters. If that controversial (and glorious) episode of Community didn’t convince you, I bet Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves just might.

“We’re thieves but we helped the wrong person steal the wrong thing and unleash the greatest evil the world has ever known,” opens Chris Pine’s character, Edgin the Bard. I played a bard, once. A tiefling with infernal heritage who crippled her enemies in battle through Vicious Mockery and what not. But I digress.

“The Red Wizards created an army of the undead,” offers Regé-Jean Page’s Xank, a Paladin. They, along with Michelle Rodriguez’s Holga the Barbarian, undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic and save the world after they accidentally muck it all up. Pretty standard DND campaign!

Written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the filmmaking duo who co-wrote Spider-Man: Homecoming and co-directed Game Night, Honor Among Thieves promises to be comedic, action-packed, and totally nerdy — just like the original game. If you already play, there will be countless Easter eggs, from Rogues and Gelatinous Cubes to the Red Wizards of Thay, who have undoubtedly messed with your party at some time or another.

So far, the rest of the plot remains a mystery, but the official description for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves reads: “A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.”

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Rege-Jean Page, Hugh Grant, and Sophia Lillis. It will play only in theaters March 31, 2023. #DnDMovie See you there, dungeon f***ers.
