Soldiers’ Angels “Treats for Troops” is back for the ninth year to bring candy to deployed service members, National Guard members, reservists, and veterans in VA medical facilities – and registration is now open for businesses, clubs and organizations to serve as collection sites.
By becoming a registered collection site, organizations can engage their communities in a fun and festive way, accepting excess Halloween candy and giving back to those who serve.
Since the campaign’s launch in 2016, the organization has sent 594,970 pounds of Halloween candy around the globe. The 2024 goal? 150,000 pounds.
“The annual Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops program is not just about candy,” Soldiers’ Angels President and CEO Amy Palmer told We Are The Mighty. “It’s about bringing the joy of home to our deployed service members wherever they are during the Halloween season.”
“The morale boost our ‘Angel’ volunteers supply every October is always met with gratitude and cheer from our service members and veterans,” Palmer said. “We aim to make 2024 the best and brightest year of Treats for Troops yet.”
Treats for Troops serves as an opportunity for gyms, schools, churches, and social groups to work together with a common goal: bring candy – and smiles – to those who are serving.
Ways to support Treats For Troops
There are two ways to support the Treats for Troops campaign this year:
Collection Sites: Register as a collection site to gather excess Halloween candy. Collection can begin anytime – but must end after Halloween – and you can choose specific VA facilities, Guard/reserve units, or deployed service members to support from a list of registered locations. Collection hosts will cover the expenses of transporting or shipping the candy to their chosen Soldiers’ Angels recipient.
Make a Donation: Each package costs around $25 to ship, so making a financial donation brings Soldiers’ Angels one step closer to making a service member’s day.
