It’s road trip season! If the prices at the pump haven’t scared you off this time-honored tradition, we’ve rounded up the best campgrounds for your military family. Don’t miss out on these exclusive locations, available only to service members and their families.

These FamCamps are mostly located on installations but might be offsite, so doing research ahead of time is a good idea.

1. Peregrine Pines FamCamp

You’ll find Peregrine Pines FamCamp at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Located in the Rocky Mountains, these stunning campgrounds offer RV and tent spaces for short and long stays. You can even bring your pets.

2. NASKW Military Campground

Service members and veterans looking to camp out in one of the most beautiful locations in the U.S., look no further than NASKW Military Campground. These campgrounds are located at the Key West Naval Air Station, right on the Gulf of Mexico. Expect gorgeous ocean views and access, boating, water sports and more. You can either bring your tent or hook up your RV.

3. FamCamp MacDill AFB

If you don’t make reservations far in advance, you probably won’t get into FamCamp MacDill AFB in Tampa, as it’s one of the most popular military campgrounds in the country. You can blame its popularity on its proximity to the ocean, family-friendly outdoor activities, and beautiful golf courses nearby. Both RVs and tents are welcome.

4. Hill AFB FamCamp

Nature lovers will thoroughly enjoy Hill AFB FamCamp in Ogden, Utah. It’s close to the mountains, making it ideal for camping in any season, depending on your outdoor adventure preferences. The campground has designated areas for both RVs and tents, and leashed pets are welcome.

5. Pelican Roost Military RV Park

Arrive at Pelican Roost Military RV Park at Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville, Florida, for breathtaking ocean views right from your RV. This spot is always in high demand with RVers, so make your reservations well in advance if you want to stay here.

6. Seal Beach Military RV Park

Southern California’s Seal Beach RV Park (also called Sea Breeze, and for good reason) attracts many service members and veterans for its prime climate and location. This Orange County RV park at the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach is close to gorgeous beaches, a wildlife refuge, and a golf course.

7. Eagle Hammock RV Park

Eagle Hammock RV Park is an award-winning military campground on the East Coast at Georgia’s Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. For those looking for an RV park with warm beach vibes, this place is for you. Besides the beach, there’s golfing, bowling, tennis, and plenty of other fun-in-the-sun activities to keep you and your family busy.

8. Ellsworth AFB FamCamp

Ellsworth AFB FamCamp.

If you’re visiting Badlands National Park or Mount Rushmore, know the Ellsworth AFB FamCamp is nearby to accommodate you and your family. The region is beautiful, and the campground offers plenty of recreational activities and equipment. It even has a movie theater. Come with your RV or your tent, as the location has plenty of space for both.

9. Foster Creek Military RV Park and Villas

Just outside Charleston, South Carolina, is Foster Creek Military RV Park and Villas. This is a popular landing spot for RVers, as you’ll find lakes, a national park and the ocean nearby. If you don’t have an RV, there are modern, spacious villas available for rent on-site as well.

Road trips are such a wonderful way to connect with family and see this beautiful country. FamCamps are even better because you can access the sites that civilians can’t!
