I know it’s taboo to speak up about mental health while on active duty but you can take a mental health day without placing a label on it. Sometimes instead of playing “hurry up and wait” at the barracks, I would go golfing on base to get away from all the enlisted BS and be on the wide open green. Lower enlisted typically don’t golf and the big wigs aren’t interested in you while on the course. That’s what I would do, even if it only meant going to the driving range. Alcohol, in my honest opinion, is not a good way to relieve stress. There are other healthier ways to let off some steam. Now I’m not saying go dry, the Marines would run me out of town, but do make an effort to get some down time — real down time — and decompress. The mind is a weapon that also needs to be sharpened from time to time, warrior.
Here are some military memes to laugh at while you hurry up and wait

It’s going to take a whole lot more for a beard meme to get past me this time.
