Green Bay Packers superstar running back Josh Jacobs pulled off the ultimate win this weekend, gifting two Super Bowl tickets to an incredible veteran, Kevin Bennett in partnership with the NFL and USAA.
Sergeant Major Kevin Bennett served in the United States Marine Corps for 34 years (1971- 2004). He began as an Infantry Riflemen, and worked up the ranks before retiring as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding General Marine Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico. His career was filled with combat missions and base assignments that took him all over the world, including 10 overseas deployments between Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Panama, Norway, and Saudi Arabia/Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. Looking back at his service to our country, Bennett says every day in the Marines was a highlight – whether training
domestically or on international deployment – because your serving with the best America has to offer, singularly focused on the common goal of being Mission ready for combat. Bennett’s military awards include a Legion Of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia,) Kuwait Liberation Medal (Emirate of Kuwait), and a Marine Corps Drill Instructor Ribbon.
Following separation from the Marine Corps, Bennett spent six years taking care of his family and traveling to professional sports stadiums around the country. In 2010, he took a role with the Marine Corps Association as Director of Professional Development, before retiring in 2022. Jacobs was thrilled to surprise Bennett. “It means so much to be able to give back to these heroes who do so much for us,” he told WATM at the USAA Salute to Service Lounge at the Super Bowl Experience in New Orleans.
