OFP is what Marines and some other branches refer to as ‘Own F’ing Program’. It’s a more elevated form of S.K.A.T.E., usually insulated from BS due to one’s rank or time in service. If you are unfamiliar with the acronym it stands for: Seek cover, Keep a low profile, Avoid working parties, Take no initiative, and Evade all higher ups. Essentially, OFP is when you can safely, openly skate and no one has the authority or the balls to confront you. It’s the equivalent of a Terminal Lance but with the knife hands of a SNCO (staff non-commissioned officer). Everybody asks where Lance Corporal Shmuckatelli is during his check out process but everyone sleeps on the SgtMaj popping smoke who is about to retire. Even if you did catch a SNCO skating, what is anyone going to do about it? They’re OFP with a list of this week’s best memes.

This one got a guttural laugh from me. This is exactly what happened to me at Camp Lejeune one winter when the whole base got locked down and everything was canceled, except our field op. In fact, I have a picture of a hump we did to one of the ranges. At least we looked cool before our LT decided to have us freeze outside for the night…in a MOUT town…with buildings and heat. No, the rest of the company went in the buildings. We stayed outside due to hubris and his Yale degree.
A family member enrolled in High School this year and one of the questions they asked is if their records could be forwarded to the military to aid in recruitment. We checked “no.” They got me and that’s it. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
