2022 is the 123rd Army-Navy Game, presented by USAA. The company has proudly sponsored the game since 2009 and will continue to for years to come. WATM sat down with USAA’s President and CEO, Wayne Peacock, to talk about the Army-Navy game, how the company serves the military community and more.
Peacock joined USAA in 1988 in the company’s real estate investment subsidiary. Since then, he has led teams across the organization before becoming CEO in February 2020. In his over 30-year career, he has seen many changes in the company to better serve its members. “Back in 1988, we were talking on the phone and doing it well,” Peacock said of USAA’s customer service before widespread internet use. “If you look today at our interactions, the number one way our members interact is on one of these mobile devices.” USAA still talks with member 250,000 times daily, but engages with them millions of times a day through the USAA app.
Despite the changes, Peacock notes that some things have stayed the same at USAA. “No matter where you are, no matter what you’re doing, connecting it back to taking care of our military families is really the consistency that has kept USAA on the right path,” he said. “The consistency of how we operate, our values, is really a great hallmark of USAA.”
In 2022, USAA celebrated it 100th anniversary. “It feels incredibly special. I felt really honored, and then I felt this really, really huge sense of obligation,” Peacock said of serving as the company’s President and CEO for such a momentous occasion. “To be here at this point in time and both celebrate what’s come before but be part of what building what needs to come ahead of us, it’s really exciting and encouraging.” Looking forward, Peacock noted that USAA will continue to introduce new technologies and products to better serve its members.
The Army-Navy Game is a very special event for Peacock. “I still get goosebumps getting out and seeing the March On,” he said. “It’s just amazing to see the breadth and the scale of these two great institutions out on the field together.” In addition to the Army-Navy Game, USAA sponsors the Army-Navy Star Series and the Air Force Academy and Falcon Athletics.
